This MP2000 Monday is another Nilovic song but this time it’s under his Andy Loore alias. The song is “Tremplin Olympique” from his Water Show album. The album is solid it has a few nice songs like this one but it has quite a few songs I skip as well.

    Hello!

I must admit that I have greatly enjoyed your blog, and all of the wonderful information you have here regarding the music in the MP 2000 collection.

My attraction to the music is apparently a little different than most people. Whereas many enjoy the music for the quality of the music itself, the music appeals to me because it was used to supplement the music created for one of my favorite TV programs; a Japanese cartoon series named “Gatchaman,” which was shown here as “Battle of the Planets.”

Only recently have I discovered that some of the music I liked from the series came from the MP 2000 collection. That certainly explains why so much of the music that was used in the series didn’t appear on the “Gatchaman” soundtrack album! I’ve been searching for as much of this additional music as I can find, and have so far located 25 tracks that were used in the series.

As overjoyed as I am with having found those pieces of music, there are still a number of key music tracks that I have been unable to locate. I was hoping that, if I provided some links to “Gatchaman” episodes on YouTube, and the times in those videos when some of this music begins, that either you or someone who reads this blog might be able to listen to the music and help to identify on which albums some of these music tracks can be found. For all I know, some or all of these might be from a library music collection other than the MP 2000 series, which would certainly explain why I haven’t been able to find them!

Here are the selections I’m hoping to find:

    Gatchaman episode #47 Pt. 1

    Music at 2:59

    Gatchaman episode #102 Pt. 1
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ay1NLkLFKos

    Music at 0:19
    Music at 2:10

If anyone can direct me to where I can find any of these, I would be most appreciative of the assistance! This is all like one big musical puzzle, and I’m not ashamed to say that I can use help putting the pieces together!

  • Hi James, thanks for the kind words about the blog.

I know a little about Gatchaman but not a ton. I will watch the clips and see if anything jumps out at me. Also I will link to this comment on the main MP2000 posts so more people see it. Also could you send me the info you have of what songs you know already so I can add that info.

  • James

    Hi again,

Here’s a list of the music cues that I have found that appeared in “Gatchaman” at one time or another. I can try to put together some links to episodes on YouTube if you want to hear them “in action.”

    From MP 01
    Track 10 – Reflets de Grande-Bretagne
    Track 12 – Reflets d’Inde

    From MP 02
Track 11 – Inauguration et Fanfare
Track 12 – Catastrophe et Séisme
Track 14 – Guerre et Massacre
Track 15 – eglises et sanctuaires

    From MP 03
Track 07 – Bach Stage (Version Clavecin)

    From MP 05
Track 03 – Charbon et Acier
Track 05 – Boxe et Violence

    From MP 06
    Track 04 – Ski Trails
    Track 05 – Real Happening
    Track 09 – Shaking Pop

    From MP 09
Track 02 – Domaine du Reve
    Track 03 – Piano Sombre

    From MP 10
    Track 01 – t.e.e.
    Track 03 – Sloane Square
    Track 04 – Golden Days
Track 11 – End of the Line
    Track 13 – Meet Denise

    From MP 11
    Track 05 – Pop Avenue
    Track 08 – Sacha Pacha
    Track 12 – Scratching Machine

    From MP 25
    Track 07 Chronophonie

    From MP 27
    Track 08 – Un Soir a Munich

    From MP 28
Track 05 – La Girafe et La Tortue

I’ve also found that several of these tracks were also used in the 1972 Japanese film 鏡の中の野心 (”Kagami no Naka no Yashin” or “Ambition in the Mirror”). I haven’t checked the film recently, but I wouldn’t be at all surprised if a closer examination would reveal that the entire soundtrack was made up of MP 2000 music.

  • You dont have to go through the trouble of linking to the episodes but if you have what songs appear in which episodes that would be great.

  • James

    Hello!

Trying to list each episode a specific piece of music was used in would be very, very time-consuming to research. You see, many pieces were used numerous times throughout the series. Their frequent appearances are one of the main reasons why fans assumed that they had to be music created by “Gatchaman” composer Bob Sakuma. So, the only way to make certain that you had a complete list of every time a piece was used would be to go through all 105 episodes with the intention of creating a list of which piece of music was used where.

Since I don’t currently have the time to take on such a project, I hope that providing the number of an episode where these pieces can be heard will suffice. Well, all except Sloan Square from MP 10. I recognize the music as one I’ve heard in the series, but for the life of me, I can’t place exactly where. Very annoying…

    From MP 01

  • Thanks James. The info in your last comment is what I meant, good stuff.

    Hi there!

I’m glad to see from the great updates on your site that your recent computer problems have been put to rest!

I figured that I’d drop a quick note here just to bump this back up, once again asking if anyone who has a chance could check theYouTube clips I listed earlier and see if they could help to identify any of the musical cues.

Thank you all in advance for all of your help!

    James
