Janko Nilovic “Concerto For A Star”

Monday, March 1st, 2010

For this MP2000 Monday it’s time to go back to one of Janko’s Impressions records this time Psyc Impressions. The song is “Concerto For A Star” previously I shared another song from this album (which is here). I’m a big fan of Psyc Impressions and I’m pretty sure it was rereleased on CD a few years back but I don’t have time to look it up at the moment because computer is about to die.

Sorry for the lack of updates. My current computer problems have slowed things down a bit but expect to get back on track soon. I need to update the MP2000 posts as well so keep an eye out for that.

Camille Sauvage “Petroleossimo”

Monday, February 15th, 2010

As you might know from reading the MP2000 posts Camille Sauvage is an alias of Eric Framond. The record is #22 and called Music Label and it’s pretty solid it’s not quite up there with Univers 2000 but it has enough good tracks and it has quite a bit of variety. Univers 2000 which he released under Eric Framond was #21 and a song this song, “Petroleossimo” sounds like one that didn’t make the cut. Although not all of Music Label sounds like Univers 2000 I’ll share more on another MP2000 Monday

American Teaching Aids “Dinosaur Friends”

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

For this weeks Wacky Wednesday song I turn to a teaching record. This was made by the American Teaching Aids company which as far as I know is no longer in business. On the back of the record sleeve is the lyrics to all the songs so I included them in this mp3 and since I think no one is making money off this record anymore (besides the thrift store I bought it from for a dollar years ago) you can download this one. Check the comments for the link. If there is demand for the other songs (could be fun if you have kids) I guess I could record and upload the rest of the album. The record is called Our Dinosaur Friends: For the Early Years and is from 1978

Vocals by Pam Johnson, Wayne Parker and Eric Miller.
Produced by Art Barduhn.
Edited by Tana M. Warren

Will update with the album picture later.

Robert Gretch “Navajos”

Monday, February 8th, 2010

I don’t know really anything about Robert Gretch but you gotta hand it to the guy Guitarrissimo is a pretty good name for a record. Unfortunately the title is better then the music. Most of the songs I wouldn’t sit around and listen to but I could see how some could be used for background music. My two favorites from this record is “Navajos” and “Via Alpha” so I’ll share “Navajos” for MP2000 Monday and throw up the other in the future.

Squeek Boogie – Dillmatic

Friday, February 5th, 2010

Squeek Boogie - Dillmatic

For Free Album Friday it’s an album put together by Squeek Boogie called Dillmatic. By that title (if you are a hiphop fan) you should be able to guess he takes the beats of Dilla and the rhymes of Nas. Not all the Nas stuff is from Illmatic but it makes a good title. Overall its pretty solid, towards the end I started skipping tracks but certainly worth a download. Before this album I’ve never heard of Squeek Boogie before but he is a producer from Phoenix hit up his links below for more info and download the album here

Robert Lee “The Ballad of Bruce Lee”

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010

This Wacky Wednesday song comes from Bruce Lee’s younger brother, Robert. The album came out in 1975 and is titled Robert Lee Sings The Ballad Of Bruce Lee. The song “The Ballad of Bruce Lee” is one of the few songs that Robert wrote on the album. Robert sings other songs written by Keith Barbour and Flemming Rasmussen and the album also features him covering The Beattles song “This Boy”.

Andy Loore “Tremplin Olympique”

Monday, February 1st, 2010

This MP2000 Monday is another Nilovic song but this time it’s under his Andy Loore alias. The song is “Tremplin Olympique” from his Water Show album. The album is solid it has a few nice songs like this one but it has quite a few songs I skip as well.

How to Package Your Music (Jake One & Freeway)

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

I think every label regardless of what kind of music you put out should take notes on how Rhymesayers Entertainment handles business. The packaging of the anticipated Stimulus Package is another example. If you don’t know Stimulus Package is a colab album between producer Jake One and rapper Freeway. In the video below (you can skip to around 1:15) it shows you the album which comes in a wallet like case and features a card to download the instrumentals.

If that wasnt enough if you pre order it from Fifth Element online (Rhymesayers store) you get a lot of treats

• Entered into a drawing for 1 of 5 $100 CASH prizes!
• Receive a Fifth Element Stimulus Check signed by Freeway & Jake One, your check will be good for 15% off a future purchase online.
• Receive both The Beat Made Me Do It mixtape & Freelapse mixtape.
• Instant digital download of the leaked track You Know What I Mean 320 kbps. In the download you will get the explicit, edited and instrumental version of the song.

Quite a good deal. Note I don’t get anything if you do order it from Fifth Element actually if you ordered it from Amazon I would get a little something so when the preorder goodies go away feel free to do that. But you got to hand it to Rhymesayers crew they are really doing things right.

Eric Framond “Amelioration”

Monday, January 25th, 2010

Todays MP2000 Monday song is “Amelioration” from the Eric Framond album Puzzle. I’m a big fan of his Univers 2000 album but this album only has a couple songs I like.

Count Bass D & DJ Pocket – In the Loop

Friday, January 15th, 2010

Count Bass D & DJ Pocket - In the Loop

Count Bass D and DJ Pocket recently put out a free album that features straight loops for beats and I thought it might as well throw it up for Free Album Friday. Now to be honest I’m pretty underwhelmed by this release I like Count (especially Begborrowsteel) but overall I think this album misses the mark. There are a few songs I like (like “Everyday Ritual” below) and its free so whatever. I don’t have a problem with loops I just don’t like the sample material they took the loops from it’s like 80s R&B sounding junk. But peace to Count Bass D he makes good music. You can download In the Loop here
