If you listen to Squeeze Radio (and you should be by the way) you are familiar with Homeboy Sandman. He is a New York MC, part of the AOK Collective and on the High Water Music label (owned by Squeeze Radio host Sucio Smash). Homeboy Sandman has been one of my favorites of the past few years due to his witty and nimble flow. So since his new album, The Good Sun, drops on June 1st (buy it at http://amzn.to/GoodSun) I thought it would be a good idea to have a couple Homeboy Sandman posts over the next few days including this Free Album Friday treat.

In 2008 he dropped a free mixtape called There Is No Spoon. It features a decent amount of songs from his 2007 album Nourishment (Second Helpings) and a little from his 2009 album Actual Factual Pterodactyl plus exclusive content. Although it has the stuff that makes mixtapes annoying (DJ drops, shorter versions of songs, etc) it’s a good intro to the boy sand. Download There Is No Spoon here.

So if you thought the last Free Album Friday album would make a good backdrop for your raps you’re too late, Dice Raw already did it. Dice, Dilla, Pregunta is an album of him rapping over the Dilla Joints beats Questlove made of Dilla beats (confusing?). It’s solid, check it out. You can download Dice, Dilla, Pregunta here. Meant to post about this album a while back but never happened (note i’m changing the date of this post to make it a Free Album Friday post). Dilla Jawns is an album of Dilla beats played by The Roots. It works pretty good, while there is nothing super great on here I only disliked two of the tracks. Since it’s a band we don’t the DJ scratches or vocal samples (I kinda would like the M.O.P. vocal sample on “Make Em NV”) to keep things fresh. But it’s a nice album to have on in the background, plus its free (download Dilla Jawns here). If you like this album you will like a past Free Album Friday post where I shared The Remix Project Mixtape. On it a band plays various hiphop beats.

For Free Album Friday it’s an album put together by Squeek Boogie called Dillmatic. By that title (if you are a hiphop fan) you should be able to guess he takes the beats of Dilla and the rhymes of Nas. Not all the Nas stuff is from Illmatic but it makes a good title. Overall its pretty solid, towards the end I started skipping tracks but certainly worth a download. Before this album I’ve never heard of Squeek Boogie before but he is a producer from Phoenix hit up his links below for more info and download the album here
