Johnny Bench “Strike Zone”

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

For this Wacky Wednesday it’s another radio station record. This time its a 7″ (but 33rpm) public service announcement record from the National Fire Protection Association. On it they have various baseball players tell the listener to keep their matches out of reach of the children in your house. There are twelve different ball players I picked Cincinnati Reds and Hall of Fame catcher Johnny Bench but they are all essentially the same just read by different players. Will update this post with the artwork of the record sleeve later.

The Nashville Music Beat

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009

It’s Wacky Wednesday (if you haven’t figured out by now I’m a fan of alliteration) where i will share strange / unique / wacky records from my collection. I’m really drawn to unusual records. This first one isn’t the best but its the first one i grabbed. It does have Grandpa Jones saying “No sir no, by golly I’m more excited then ever…”. It’s a 45rpm (picture is coming) of what seems to be a record that this company would send to radio stations it’s kind of their sales pitch in vinyl form. Basically this company would make 10 two minute segments about the goings on in the Nashville music scene every week. They would send them to your radio station and you make money selling the advertising between these segments. I’m not sure how long The Nashville Music Beat ran nothing really came up searching online. The recording is in mono.
