I actually shared a different song off this album a while ago but I’ve been busy and wanted to make a post today. It’s the only album Milt Jackson & John Coltrane did together. The album was recorded in 1959 but wasnt released until 1961. The other players were Paul Chambers, Connie Kay and Hank Jones. “Three Little Words is your Jazz Song of the Week. Enjoy

Duke Ellington & John Coltrane

The Jazz Song of the Week combines two jazz legends in Duke Ellington & John Contrane. Both men brought their bass player and drummer to the session which was recorded and released in 1962. On this song “In a Sentimental Mood” it features Aaron Bell on bass, Elvin Jones on drums with Duke on piano and Coltrane on tenor sax. Some of the other songs Jimmy Garrison played bass and Sam Woodyard on drums.

The Jazz Song of the Week features two heavyweights, Milt Jackson and John Coltrane. This is the only album they did together but due to the quality I wish there was more. It was recorded in 1959 but wasnt released until 1961. The other players were Paul Chambers, Connie Kay and Hank Jones.
