It’s been a while since I dropped a MP2000 Monday song but I think my downtime is behind me. This one is from French pianist Maurice Vander from his album Chess which is #62. It’s an ok jazz record, about half the tracks I would skip but there are some decent stuff. However there nothing that you have to hear (in my opinion). The players on this record are
Piano/Organ: Maurice Vander
Drums/Percussion: Christian Lété
Bass: Gus Nemeth

For this weeks MP2000 Monday I’m sharing another song from the Vibraphonie record by Hilario Sanchez, the song is “Carolsmania”. I like the album but I’ve always been a fan of the vibraphone. I don’t think HIlario had any other solo records on MP2000 but if I’m wrong feel free to correct me.

Another Janko Nilovic focused MP2000 Monday. This time its a selection from his Rythmes Contemporains album. I like all of the songs so I just picked one, it’s called “Xenos Cosmos”. This is one of the few MP2000 Monday songs I’m sharing that’s not coming from my collection, I’ve never had this vinyl but I really like it. The album was rereleased in 2000 on CD/LP on Cosmic Sounds.

For this MP2000 Monday it’s time to go back to one of Janko’s Impressions records this time Psyc Impressions. The song is “Concerto For A Star” previously I shared another song from this album (which is here). I’m a big fan of Psyc Impressions and I’m pretty sure it was rereleased on CD a few years back but I don’t have time to look it up at the moment because computer is about to die.
Sorry for the lack of updates. My current computer problems have slowed things down a bit but expect to get back on track soon. I need to update the MP2000 posts as well so keep an eye out for that.

The record is #22 and called Music Label and it’s pretty solid it’s not quite up there with Univers 2000 but it has enough good tracks and it has quite a bit of variety. Univers 2000 which he released under his Eric Framond alias was #21 and a song this song, “Petroleossimo” sounds like one that didn’t make the cut. Although not all of Music Label sounds like Univers 2000 I’ll share more on another MP2000 Monday

I don’t know really anything about Robert Gretch but you gotta hand it to the guy Guitarrissimo is a pretty good name for a record. Unfortunately the title is better then the music. Most of the songs I wouldn’t sit around and listen to but I could see how some could be used for background music. My two favorites from this record is “Navajos” and “Via Alpha” so I’ll share “Navajos” for MP2000 Monday and throw up the other in the future.

Todays MP2000 Monday song is “Amelioration” from the Eric Framond album Puzzle. I’m a big fan of his Univers 2000 album but this album only has a couple songs I like.

After a nice long holiday break I’m back. As mentioned the last time when I posted a song from this record this is actually a Jean-Jacques Perrey record but he gave his daughter Pat Prilly credit for helping him. Todays MP2000 Monday song is “La Panthere Cosmique” from Moog Sensations which is #25 on the MP2000 label.

For this MP2000 Monday it’s time to go to a non Janko record. This cut is from Suspense which is #121 of the MP2000 label. Most of the songs are done by G. Gallo (not sure what the G stands for) with Guy Pedersen doing four tracks. Suspense might be good for producers lookin for bits to sample but didn’t grab me as an album I would listen to.

Another MP2000 Monday another Janko Nilovic song. I do have other MP2000 records besides Nilovic he is just my favorite and I wanted to share this song. “Aérospatial” is from his album Un Couple Dans La Ville and this song sounds like nothing else on the album. The rest of the album is breezy scat jazz and a little goofy where “Aérospatial” is kind of like Janko’s take at creating a “Superfly Theme” like song, except his has no vocals. It’s like during recording this album he saw some Blaxploitation film and had to try his hand at it and decided to sneak it on this album. “Aérospatial” is easily the best song on the album and really I only like two others (”Diamant Dans L’Espace” is nice in parts and the sillyness of “La Romance D’helene” works im my opinion) but maybe you are a fan of the breezy style and nonsensical vocals most of the other songs have.
